Prof. Bozena Jaskorzynska received the M.Sc. degree (1970) in solid-state physics from the Warsaw University, Poland, the Ph.D. degree (1980, electromagnetic theory, diffraction) from the Institute of the Fundamental Technological Problems, Polish Academy of Sciences, and the ‘docent’ (habilitation) degree (1990) in optics from the Physics Department of the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden. Awarded the Dutch government postdoctoral fellowship she spent 1982/83 at Delft University of Technology, where she dealt with fiber and laser optics. Since 1997 she has been a Professor, at KTH, where she has initiated and led projects on waveguided, microstructered devices for light signal processing. She has been active in a number of European projects within HMC, COST, ACTS, and TEMPUS programs. Most recently she participated in the IST project on "Photonic Crystal Integrated Circuits", is a Swedish representative to the Cost Action P11, and takes part in EU Networks of Excellence: ePIXnet and PHOREMOST. She has also served on the program committees for the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) and for several international conferences, e.g. ECOC since 2005. She is an author/co-author of more than 130 articles and conference contributions, including ca 30 invited papers.
